World Mother’s Day

“On this occasion of World Mother’s Day,” HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji shares, “Let us remember that our scriptures have always emphasised the importance and reverence of our Mothers. In fact not just one day but every day should be Mother’s Day. It is said that God created Mother’s to embody His grace, compassion and love here on Earth.

When I say your mother, I mean many things. Of course I mean our biological mother who gave us birth. But, I also mean the Divine Mother— the Shakti. In this Mother, we find not only our own mothers, but all of creation itself. Mother Nature, Mother Earth, and Mother Ganga these are all forms of the Divine Mother.

The Divine feminine is sacred in all her forms. For your own mother, this means treating her with respect, with love, with patience and compassion. Which of course means that any form of violence to her is and must be prohibited. For Mother Nature and Mother Earth this love and respect means protection and preservation. Mother Earth has given us all that we need to sustain our lives, and we are simultaneously destroying Her. Let us treat our Earth as the Mother that she truly is. If our own mother were sick, we would not let her simply suffer, decay and die. We would fight tenaciously to bring her back to her full state of health and glory. Let us give the same treatment and care to restoring our Mother Earth. We must not pollute her or exploit her resources. We must nurse her back to health.

Lastly, as we continue to deal with Covid-19, I strongly believe that Corona has come as an Ambassador for our Environment. Therefore, let us reflect on the lessons we have learned from Covid-19. Nature has shown us that when we go inside she is able to heal and recover. It means the way we were living was the problem! Let us be the solution and change our lifestyles as well as reflect on our values. Corona has taught us that life is not to have more, or accumulate, or consume more; it’s really about being more and living more fully in harmony with ourselves and our planet. Every action to reduce our carbon and water footprint counts.

On this global day of celebration dedicated to our Mother, let’s pledge to join hands and heart from this very moment to make not just today but everyday and every moment dedicated and devoted to respecting our Mothers and to the preservation and protection of Mother Nature and Mother Earth.”
