Message on National Energy Conservation Day

“Whatever happens in the environment,” HH Param Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, the President of Parmarth Niketan, said on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, “affects every person and every house, so it is necessary that our lifestyle should be environmentally friendly. In order to achieve the goal of low energy use, we have to develop a framework for traditional sources of energy as well as traditional forms of lifestyle, living and construction of buildings.”

National Energy Conservation Day is a day set aside to highlight those things that everyone can do to ensure efficient energy usage and conservation. Simple things like using light bulbs and fans as infrequently as possible, using public transport and taking the stairs whenever possible, and carpooling with friends and colleagues and driving in the correct gear can all contribute to energy conservation.

Today’s day,” Pujya Swamiji continued, inspires us to reflect on the energy sector in India and the necessity to conserve. Along with focusing on creating awareness about ‘Global Warming’ and Climate Change, the day also inspires all of us to promote efforts towards conservation of energy resources. It also informs everyone about the achievements of the country in the field of energy efficiency and conservation.

“Every citizen of India has to be motivated to adopt an energy efficient lifestyle, and the emphasis must be made to use positive and effective means to improve India’s energy system. There is a need for concerted efforts at the national level to ensure energy conservation in India.

In His message to visiting school children, Pujya Swamiji shared that they should all “conserve energy. But after you conserve your energy, use it in the service of the country and create synergy with energy. Create synergy with your energy and use it for the country. This is the way of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

Swami ji led the students in a sankalp to commit to working for a safe and sustainable future, and to planting saplings together and inspiring others to do the same.
