Pujya Swamiji says, “Investments made on children are investments made for India’s golden future. In order to realize the vision of a better and safer India, first of all our children have to be given a safe today.”

On Child Labor Prohibition Day, Pujya Swamiji shared that children are the future of the country, not just for their family but for the future of the country. He added, “Decisions made for the future of children have a multifaceted effect on the future of our nation. Therefore, providing education, health, and safety to our children is of utmost importance.

Child labor is a crime and against the law, but it should be the duty of every citizen of India to stop it, report it, and to work to put these children into school. Children who are forced into child labor are not only deprived of education, but their entire childhood! This has a profound impact on their lives. Even today many people in India are forced to live on the margins of society, victims to exploitation and oppression. Children who are forced to work as child laborers are not only seen as laborers, but they are also forced into illiteracy and poverty. This feeds into serious crimes like human trafficking, terrorism, drug trafficking and many others. Child labor is a matter of public concern, and it should be discussed publicly with all efforts made to solve this grave social evil. Children are a form of God, so giving them a safe today and a safe future is our dharma.”

Pujya Swamiji shared about the beautiful opportunity we had a few years ago at Parmarth Niketan to welcome Noble Laureate Kailash Satyarthiji, who had traveled more than 80,000 kilometres across 103 countries and dedicated his entire life to this campaign, to the banks of Maa Ganga and to support his efforts to be the change that is needed.

ऋषिकेश, 12 जून। परमार्थ निकेतन के परमाध्यक्ष स्वामी चिदानन्द सरस्वती जी ने बाल श्रम निषेध दिवस पर संदेश देते हुये कहा कि बच्चे, केवल अपने परिवार का नहीं बल्कि देश का भी भविष्य होते हैं। बच्चों के भविष्य के लिये किये गये फैसलों का बहुआयामी प्रभाव होता है क्योंकि किसी राष्ट्र के निर्माण में उस राष्ट्र के बच्चों का बहुत महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान होता है। अतः जनमानस को चाहिये कि वे अपने निजी स्वार्थ के लिये देश के भविष्य को बर्बाद न करें बल्कि बच्चों को स्वस्थ, सुरक्षित और समुन्नत वातावरण प्रदान करें।

बाल श्रम कानून के तौर पर तो अपराध है ही साथ ही यह नैतिक रूप से भी एक बहुत बड़ा अपराध है और इसे रोकना भारत के प्रत्येक नागरिक का कर्तव्य भी होना चाहिये। बाल श्रम करने वाले बच्चे न केवल शिक्षा से ही वंचित रहते हंै, बल्कि उनका पूरा बचपन ही समाप्त हो जाता है। इससे उन लोगों के जीवन पर बहुत गहरा प्रभाव पड़ता है। भारत में आज भी कई लोग समाज में हाशिये पर जीवन व्यतीत करने को मजबूर हैं, ये लोग हमेशा से शोषण एवं उत्पीड़न के शिकार भी रहे हैं। बाल श्रमिक के रूप में कार्य करने वाले ये बच्चे मात्र श्रमिक के रूप में ही नहीं देखे जाते हैं, बल्कि ये अशिक्षा, बेरोजगारी एवं गरीबी के भी जीते-जागते उदाहरण हैं। यही अशिक्षा, बेरोजगारी एवं गरीबी आगे चलकर मानव तस्करी, आतंकवाद, मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी जैसे गंभीर अपराधों को जन्म देती है। अतः समाज के प्रबुद्ध लोगों का कर्तव्य है कि जहां पर भी बाल श्रमिक दिखें उनसे बात करें तथा उन बच्चों को श्रम कार्य से हटाकर स्कूल भेजने के लिये प्रोत्साहित करंे।

बाल श्रम के विरुद्ध सम्पूर्ण विश्व को एकजुट करने के उद्देश्य से कैलाश सत्यार्थी जी द्वारा विश्व के 103 देशों की यात्रा की गई, तकरीबन 80,000 किलोमीटर की इस यात्रा के दौरान उन्होंने कई मिलियन लोगों का एक मजबूत समूह निर्मित किया गया, जो “बाल श्रम के विरुद्ध वैश्विक मुहिम” थी और यह यात्रा काफी हद तक सफल भी हुई परन्तु बाल श्रम को पूर्ण रूप से समाप्त करने के लिये समाज के हर वर्ग को साथ आना होगा।

बच्चों के बचपन को बचाना अर्थात देश के भविष्य सुरक्षित करना, इस हेतु देश के हर नागरिक को नैतिक साहस का परिचय देना होगा। मुझे तो लगता है बाल श्रम सार्वजनिक चिंता का विषय है और इस पर चिंतन भी सर्वजनिक रूप से होना चाहिये। वैसे भी भारतीय संस्कृति और संस्कारों के अनुसार बच्चे भगवान का रूप होते हैं अतः उन्हें सुरक्षित आज और कल देना सभी नागरिकों का कर्तव्य है।
