Bhajan Samrat Sri Anup Jalota Joins Parmarth Niketan’s Kumbh Camp for Vasant Panchami Snan and Concert

Prayagraj: The auspicious day of Vasant Panchami, a welcoming to Spring and a celebration of the Goddess Saraswati, was further illuminated with the presence of Bhajan Samrat Sri Anup Jalota at the Parmarth Niketan Kumbh Camp. The day began with Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, leading a group of pilgrims from over twenty countries to take a sacred snan at the Sangam of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Pujya Swamiji spoke a message centered on ‘bas ant’, building off of Vasant Panchami, with ‘bas ant’ meaning ‘enough’ or ‘finished’. He led those gathered to pledge ‘enough and finished’ to pollution, environmental destruction, selfishness, and the devastating results to our water resources out of the illusion that we are separate. The day ended with an energizing concert on the banks of the Sangam by Sri Anup Jalota.


Pujya Swamiji said: “Our coming together on Vasant Panchami to celebrate Goddess Saraswati is a time to say ‘bas ant’ – enough, finished – to thinking we are separate from one another. We must remember that we are One, One in the Divine as a world and as a global family. Say ‘bas ant’ to all that makes you think you are separate and let your dip at the Sangam flow Oneness into You, and pledge to use your Oneness to end separation.”

Sadhvi Bhagawatiji said: “We take the pledge to say ‘bas ant’ – enough / finished – to walls and borders and boundaries, to the illusion of separateness that has wreaked havoc due to lack of vision, compassion, and caring. With our pledge, we boldly and bravely herald in a new time and a new beginning of truly living as One in our world and global family. Your dip is a fresh start of living as a global family of human beings connected with all living beings and all elements of this planet. Goddess Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom – may we all have wisdom to understand the truth of our oneness and our connectedness, wisdom to say ‘bas ant’ to the disconnect, the violence, and the unconscious living leading to destruction.”


Pujya Swamiji used the concert by Anup Jalota as a reminder that just as we talk about Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR, we must begin a conversation for Musician Social Responsibility or MSR. Sri Anupji pledged to use his role as a musician to create MSR, using music not just for entertainment and enjoyment, but as a way to uplift people and show them the truth and light of our oneness.
