This 2-week Foundation Yoga program for individuals with no yoga experience includes prayers, pranayama, Surya Namaskar, traditional hatha yoga basic asana, Vedic Chanting, Karma Yoga and satsang [question / answer session].  Each day concludes with Ganga Havan & Aarti at sunset; followed by Satsang when Pujya Sadhviji is in the Ashram.

Specifications:

  • This course is for students with no previous experience of yoga
  • Students should adhere to the course dress code (white clothing is mandatory, no sleeveless or crop tops, no shorts, no tight or revealing clothes)

A special three-day introduction to Ganga Yoga to encourage and inspire seekers to bring their lives back into alignment, to bring it back into the current of Mother Nature and the Universe. To bring a sense of body awareness and strive to lead a more balanced life in line with Mother Nature by exposure to the Ashram culture, understand the meaning of an Ashram and how to cultivate an Ashram with four pillars of Yogic Management in our lives. Introduction to Yamas and Niyamas as the core principles of Yoga allowing us to know how to flow in our lives. ‘Move one step closer to mind, body and soul connection’

Kriya Yoga deepens your practice through understanding the subtleties of the main chakras of the body.  As we explore the chakras, we work to unblock and rebalance our inner energies for greater well-being and self connection.

A basic understanding of the chakras / energy centers with their Sanskrit names, associated colour, and element will be helpful for the Kriya Yoga and Meditation program. This Kriya Yoga program begins each day with the 20 main Kriya Yoga practices for pratyahara (sense withdrawal), dharana (concentration), dhyana (Meditation), including prayer, pranayama, traditional hatha yoga asana, Vedic chanting and Satsang (spiritual question/ answer). Each day concludes with Parmarth Niketan’s Ganga Havan and Aarti ceremony held during sunset on the holy banks of Ma Ganga, followed by Kirtan and Satsang (spiritual questions/ answers) with Pujya Sadhviji; and Darshan with Pujya Swamiji (when they are in the Ashram).

  • All pilgrims are expected to join in the Ganga Aarti (the light ceremony with devotional songs at sunset).
  • The pilgrims staying in this ashram are required to observe and adhere to truth, non-violence, self-discipline, and polite etiquette.

    • All pilgrims (both men and women) are required to dress modestly and soberly, in a way that shows respect for the tradition of ashram life. We request that no shorts, sleeveless shirts, or other revealing clothing are worn.
    • The following are strictly prohibited: smoking, drinking intoxicants, using drugs, eating egg or other non-vegetarian foods, playing cards, watching television, playing radios/cassette players loudly. We also recommend that you refrain from eating onions and garlic.
    • It is prohibited to use playing cards, radios, or TVs.
    • Please refrain from picking flowers and littering.
    • No pets are allowed.
    • No strangers or persons who are not mentioned on the admission form are allowed to be invited or entertained in the rooms.
    • It is the pilgrim’s responsibility to keep his/her room clean and tidy. Rooms should always remain in the same condition as when they were assigned.
  • Take the opportunity to ask questions to Pujya Swamiji and/or Sadhvi Bhagawatiji that will be helpful to you on your spiritual path.  There is no such thing as a “wrong” question!  If you would like to submit a question but don’t want to do it in front of others, you can write them down and give them to the sevaks at the ashram.
  • In the event that the administration asks the pilgrim to leave, the pilgrim must vacate the premises immediately.
  • Please do not oblige anyone by directly providing money, clothes or tips of any kind. This affects the discipline and management of the ashram as well as negatively influences the divine, devoted feeling amongst the individuals here. Whatever help you want to give, please donate it to the office, and it will be distributed where it is most needed.

Pranayama

The 2-week Pranayama course includes two sessions of asana practice with reference to breathing practices and  two sessions of pranayama practice with a special aspect of mantra application in the pranayama and asana daily.
 
This course is a blessing for yoga seekers of all walks of life. Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability will derive deep benefits towards healthy living.  Pranayama is a precursor to meditation. The mind learns to focus with undivided attention which is beneficial at home, work and play. 
 
Participants are encouraged to attend the morning Yagna for World Healing and World Peace; the world famous Ganga Aarti at sunset on the holy banks of Ma Ganga and the evening Satsang with Pujya Sadhviji [when she is in the Ashram].

200hr Yoga Teacher Training Course

Becoming a yoga teacher takes commitment, dedication and willingness to live the yogic principles. The yoga teacher is the disciple as well as the example.

This 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course, certified by Yoga Alliance USA, teaches prayer, pranayama, Surya/ Chandra Namaskar, in-depth traditional hatha yoga asana, Vedic chanting, Karma Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga. Students will study the Bhagavad Gita and Paatanjali’s Yoga Sutras, and develop a teaching methodology with opportunities for self-practice to deepen understanding, discipline and teaching skills. Each day concludes with Parmarth Niketan’s Ganga Havan and Aarti ceremony held during sunset on the holy banks of Ma Ganga, followed by Kirtan and Satsang (spiritual questions/ answers) with Pujya Sadhviji; and Darshan with Pujya Swamiji [when they are in the Ashram].

The 4 week YTTC is designed for students with some yoga asana experience.

This beautiful 5 day course delves deep into our Self to find the solution to all problems that the world presents to us and lay down a path to eternal happiness, bliss and freedom from illusion, miseries, sufferings and death. This course on Tattva Bodha is an introduction into the study of Vedanta, the practical path to self-realisation and liberation (moksha).  Tattva Bodha, a basic work of Adi Shankaracharya ji, literally means the knowledge of truth. This course will go through Tattva Bodha verse by verse, helping us reflect on applying this wisdom practically into our lives and will include twice a day Yoga Asana classes, meditation by the holy banks of Mother Ganga, morning walks in addition to yagna, the Ganga Aarti, evening satsang to make it a beautiful immersive experience providing the teaching as well as the touch of this sacred wisdom. 

Yoga Teacher Training For Vulnerable Communities

In collaboration with Prafull Oorja, Parmarth Niketan Ashram is offering a 2 week Yoga Teacher Training program for Vulnerable Communities.

Utilizing yoga philosophies and practices to empower and heal members of vulnerable communities, this program includes 35  hours of theory, activities, demos, and interactive sessions and 15 hours of observations and practical sessions with communities in vulnerable conditions. Participants will have a sense of satisfaction and joy; and a set of tools to engage communities. We will address several communities, including multiple conditions of special needs children; rural women; prison communities; children with cancer; HIV+; mentally challenged adults; trauma survivors; and more. 

You will receive a Certificate with Yoga Alliance Continuing  Education Program (YACEP); Full Manual with songs, drawings, and activities; a toolkit of unique teaching and presentation methods; 1 year of support to implement programs, including monthly zoom calls, and potential site-visits [within India] from Prafull Oorja Sangha and support! This is a great opportunity to network and learn from peers.

Prerequisite: 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training Certification or extensive knowledge of yoga philosophy and practices.

  • Certificates for Intensive and YTTC will be issued only on completion of the entire course

  • Make sure to bring your receipt of full payments to the first class that begins early in the morning.
