Yin Yoga 101 Course at Parmarth

To decide that you want to take part in a yoga course means that you are already on a spiritual path, open to learn and be out of your comfort zone. This is when real growth happens.

Students from Brazil, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Lebanon and India participated in a 40-Hour Yin Yoga Class at Parmarth Niketan Ashram recently.

In return to being willing to learn and operate out of their comfort zones, they were gifted with the experience of penetrating deep into connective tissues, increasing flexibility and widening their range of motion, while invigorating the energy centers of the body (chakras), releasing blockages in their energetic channels (nadis). We think that’s a great trade-off!

Our incredible visiting teacher from the United States, Octavia Nasr, shares her experience teaching at Parmarth Niketan:

Octavia Nasr – Yoga teacher from U.S.

“It was an amazing experience to teach this unique group of seekers. We had a variety of experiences and backgrounds participate in the class. They were open and receptive to learning. I was honored to share with them my passion for Yin Yoga. The whole experience was enriching and life-shifting, thanks to their diverse spiritual backgrounds. We had two certified yoga teachers and one in her teacher training. We also had a gentleman deeply rooted in the Vedas, Sanskrit and Yoga and another gentleman rooted in meditation but fairly new to yoga. All of them gave 100 percent of themselves and it showed. I am grateful as I feel my work is done in full contentment.”

Now, read what some of the students had to say about the course:

Caroline Karlsson, student from Sweden

“My time and experience at Parmarth Niketan Ashram was a really beautiful journey. I came here to learn and practice more on my spiritual Yogic path. The beautiful surroundings of the Ashram, and being at the bank of the sacred Ganga gave a vibrant energy. The devoted teacher had a great impact on me and inspired me on many levels. Ending everyday with the Aarti and Satsang with Sadhviji gave another dimension for the teachings and my stay. So much to learn and practice, and Parmarth Niketan is the place to do that.”

Hani Naim student from Lebanon

“This is the first time where I do a yoga course and live in an ashram. I can definitely say that it is a learning experience and it is kind of a transformational experience for the mind and body. Today, I have a deeper knowledge of yoga, especially of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. And I have more answers on how the muscles work and how the energy works within the body.”
