World Youth Summit and Sri Sathya Sai Awards

The World Youth Summit, organized by the Sri Sathya Sai Vrinda, in Muddenahalli, Bangalore, in honour of the 93rd Birthday of Revered Sri Sathya Sai Babaji, was held from the 19-23rd November and was graced and blessed, from the 22nd-23rd November, by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji.

Pujya Swamiji joined Pujya Baba and Pujya Sri Mudhusudan Rao Naiduji in the morning of the 22nd November to flag off 10-15 trucks with 300-400 students and 500 devotees who traveled to 10 villages with food, clothes, cleaning drinking water and more as part of the Grama Seva, Rama Seva mission and in celebration of the legacy of service to reach out to the villages and rural parts of India that Pujya Sathya Sai Babaji emphasized.


Thereafter, in the evening Pujya Swamiji honoured 100 boys and girls from the Sathya Sai schools, who had been nominated by their fellow peers, recognized for their best character. Pujya Swamiji delivered an inspiring and motivating speech on the message of Pujya Sathya Sai Babaji and the incredible teachings of service that we must all imbibe.

Pujya Swamiji also inaugurated two books written by Pujya Sri Mudhusudanji “From the Heart” and “Inner View: Second Edition” and blessed the special Symphony by the Sathya Sai boys and girls bands.


On the last day of the World Youth Summit, there was a special Sri Sathya Sai Award for Human Excellence ceremony which was graced by Shri M Venkaiah Naidu​ji, Hon’ble Vice President of India, blessed by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji, joined by Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Hon’ble Agriculture Minister, Renowned Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Shri B.N Narasimhamurthy, Trustee and eminent educationist who has been associated with Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Educational Institutions since 1968 as well as many others.

The event was held on the auspicious occasion of the 93rd birthday of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at the conclusion of the World Youth Summit wherein devotees and youth from over 30 countries came together to celebrate excellence in selfless service. The seven awardees for Human Excellence were Kartik Sawhney (Education), Purnima Devi Barman (Environment), Dr Sunil Kumar Hebbi (Health), Dr Ambika Kameshwar (Music and Fine Arts), Vinayak Lohani (Unity of Religions), Binalakshmi Nepram (Women and Child Welfare) and Tegla Chepkite Loroupe (sports) from Kenya.

Presenting the awards, Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu said the Sri Sathya Sai Award for Human Excellence is a very noble initiative to recognize individuals who are doing tremendous work for the uplift of society in various parts of the world. “I congratulate the awardees for their outstanding contributions to the society. I am pleased that inspired by Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message, your organisation has taken up several welfare projects in the fields of education, healthcare and nutrition,” he said.

Observing that India’s youth is multi-talented, he said, ” We are a young India, with nearly 65% of our population being less than 35 years of age. Youth represents the energy that will drive India of the future.”

Said Hon’ble Governor,”Sathya Sai Baba served everyone without discriminating on the basis of caste and creed. His work has inspired many. His influence is seen in Gujarat too where his followers areimparting service to the needy without any expectation,” who hails from Gujarat.
