World Water Day 2022

On a beautiful morning along the holy banks of Mother Ganga, Global Interfaith WASH Alliance Co-Founder and Chair, HH Param Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, GIWA Secretary-General Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, our Acharyas, Rishikumars and Sevaks welcomed students and faculty from schools across Rishikesh to celebrate one of the most consequential United Nations Days, World Water Day – an occasion that honours the beautiful and life-giving gift of water while bringing attention to the fact that, in countries around the world, this vital resource is dwindling at alarming rates.

In messages to the gathering during the inaugural candle lighting of the event and the traditional water-blessing ceremony, Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Sadhviji reminded us that water is life – that, like our Mother Earth, 70% of our bodies are composed of water, so maintaining reservoirs of H20 is essential for our shared existence. They invited the assembled students, teachers and guests to take a pledge to do everything in their power – individually and collectively – to ensure that we always strive to conserve, preserve and protect all of our water resources!

Enjoy this wonderful recap of this morning’s events, and be sure to join us tonight at our Sacred Ganga Aarti and Divine Satsang programmes for more World Water Day commemorations!
