Sadhviji Leads Pledge for Peace and Water Conservation

On a day that Holy Maa Ganga decided to bring even more of Her divine waters to Earth, Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati ji, Parmarth Niketan Sevaks and Rishikumars, NSS Cadets and local school children joined together for a Walk for Peace and Water yesterday as part of the ashram’s celebration of International Day of Peace. The event was a cooperative effort between the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance and Dr Sanjana Jon and her H2Om Movement, which seeks to change the direction of water availability and usage in the world through activism and awareness.

Peace and Water go hand in hand because, as Sadhviji shared, “without water, there is no peace.” As part of the pledge for these two vital issues, Sadhviji encouraged everyone to plant trees to combat the water crisis. “As Pujya Swamiji always says, ‘Each 1 to Reach 10 to Become 11, each planting 11 trees.’ We should each strive to plant 11 trees to make our world a better place.”

Sadhviji also shared that “we celebrated International Day of Peace yesterday, and pledged ourselves to be agents, instruments of peace. Today, we come together and we walk hand-in-hand, shoulder-to-shoulder, heart-in-heart, together to do whatever we can to protect and preserve our water bodies. We ask everyone to take a commitment, a commitment together. Singly, individually we can accomplish a lot, but together – hand-in-hand, heart-in-heart – we can accomplish everything.”
