Green Bhagawad Katha

Day 1:

The Shrimad Bhagawat Katha was inaugurated at Parmarth Niketan by Pujya Shri Mridul Krishna Shastriji of Vrindavan and organized with love and devotion by the Somani Parivar. Pujya Swamiji , describing the fervor, the festive spirit and this katha’s significance, termed it as the “ardh-kumbh”.

Pujya Swamiji said: “Let us bring Lord Shri Krishna’s message into action and start by preserving and protecting our trees, cows and Mother Earth, the time has come to make the “Hari (Bhagawat) Katha” also a “Hari (Green) Katha”. We should come together to not only worship the Creator but also serve and preserve His Creation.”

He stated that Kathakar’s have a social responsibility in creating awareness, as they provide society the knowledge on how to lead a holistic spiritual life – guiding them on how to connect to the Creator and His Creation. In agreement, Pujya Shastrij stated, “I think “Hari (Green) Katha” is a beautiful concept. I pledge to encourage more and more Kathakars to spread this vital green message through their Kathas so that we can collectively preserve and protect our sacred natural, cultural and spiritual heritage for the coming generations”.

Pujya Swamiji inspired everyone to contribute 2% of their time, talent and technology in solving the environmental challenges that our communities and our world faces. He also mentioned how we can bring about very minute changes in our everyday life, like planting trees, using less plastic, not polluting river bodies with personal waste, etc. small green actions in our everyday life can make such a significant impact on the health of Mother Nature and Mother Ganga.

Day 2: 

Day two of the Shrimad Bhagawat Katha at Parmarth Niketan by Pujya Shri Mridul Krishna Shastriji of Vrindavan and organized with love and devotion by the Somani Parivar.

Pujya Swamiji gave a beautiful, bhakti-filled speech during the Ganga Aarti. He explained that just as in the popular Hindi song, ‘Sun Sahiba Sun Pyaar Ki Dhun, Maine Tujhe Chun Liya, Tu Bhi Mujhe Chun,’ let us call to the beloved to listen to our music and our call of love and devotion. Let our beloved be the Divine and just as in the song, let us call to the beloved that just as we have chosen the Divine, so to may the Divine choose us as their beloved.

Pujya Shastriji was so touched by Pujya Swamiji’s speech that he lovingly embraced Pujya Swamiji and said surely ‘Thakur,’ Lord Krishna-the beloved of Vrindavan, has picked Pujya Swamiji to share the divine nectar of bhakti with all.

The Ganga Aarti honoured several key dignitaries for their great dedication and commitment to the environment. Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Shastriji applauded their efforts and agreed that there services were the true worship that the planet needed today.

Pujya Swamiji encouraged everyone to take a green pledge and commit to planting at least one tree in memory of their yatra and their green katha.
