Gandhian Thought to be Promoted in Upcoming Kumbh Mela as the real GDP of India

Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Chief Guest for Sadbhavana Conclave at the Gandhi Ashram Harijan Sevak Sangh

DELHI: A special Sadbhavana Conclave took place today at Gandhi Ashram, Harijan Sevak Sangh Headquarters in Delhi today. The meeting commemorated the anniversary of the historic Poona Pact, which was drawn by the joint consultation between Mahatma Gandhiji and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar led to the establishment of Harijan Sevak Sangh* on September 24, 1932 following a large public meeting held in Bombay under the Presidentship of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.
HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, was the Chief Guest. Dr Imam Umer Ilyasiji, President of All India Imam Organisation and presided over by Sankar Sanyal, President of HSS, Naresh Yadav, Vice President of HSS, Awadesh Kumar, Journalist and TV Anchor Lakshmi Dasji, HSS Delhi Head, Urmila Shrivastav, Member, Central Board. Harijan Sevak Sangh, Jayeshbhai Patel, President of Swachhta Vidyalaya, Ambedabad and many other heads of HSS from every state.

Pujya Swamiji said, “The real GDP of India is Gandhian thought. Gandhiji said be the change we need to see in the world when we truly live the change then we bring the change. Gandhi is the bridge between Anshan and Action. This is the culture that we need today one that balances self restraint and social action. Gandhian thought gives us the speed as well as direction.”


He added, “I welcome the Harijan Sevak Sangh to partner together with the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, Ganga Action Parivar and Parmarth Niketan to Prayag Raj for the Kumbh Mela celebrating 150 anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi when we expect 150 million people for a large Summit bringing together Gandhijis three core principles: Safai(cleanliness), Sacchai (truthfulness) and Unchai* (high thinking)”


Safai Vidyalaya and GIWA committed also to work together to establish a Toilet Cafe during the upcoming Kumbh in the Parmarth Camp.


Dr Imam Umer Ilyasiji, “I am so grateful to Pujya Swamiji for his leadership in organising multiple interfaith conferences and connected me with such noble causes. My support is with him and with this movement to bring this message of interfaith harmony and cleanliness to all.”

Sankar Sanyalji said, “I am so glad to see how our HSS family is serving and carrying forth this message of Gandhiji and his teachings. We must all live this, especially his message of Swachhta (cleanliness). We must first end manual scavenging and then remove casteism.” He called to all Gandhian organisations and institutions to work together not just in celebration of 150 yrs but beyond to ensure that the thoughts and principles of Gandhian thought can bring the world together towards a healthier, happier and more harmonious future.

There was a special tree plantation and clean up programme on the campuses of the Gandhi Ashram. Members of the HSS Family were honoured and blessed by Pujya Swamiji on the occasion as well.

*Harijan Sevak Sangh (HSS) has been workinîg for the uplift of the downtrodden and weaker section of the society since its inception throughout the country through its State Branches, affiliates and associates following Gandhian ideas and ideals. It is worth mentioning that the Constitution of the Sangh had been penned down by Gandhiji himself.
