Bringing Oxygen During COVID Second Wave

Recognizing the unprecedented need for medical supplies and services to combat the gut-wrenching and devastating effects of the surge in Covid-19 cases across the Nation, HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji today launched a new initiative, the aim of which is to provide free oxygen cylinders for patients on home care in Rishikesh and adjoining village and remote mountain locations. “The biggest need of the hour,” declared Pujya Swamiji, “is to bring these cylinders directly to the patients’ homes because their recovery is in the early stages and may be accelerated with the help of oxygen.”

Oxygen has been included in the list of essential medicines by the World Health Organization (WHO)
and, at this time, ventilators and life saving drugs and oxygen are the only means to save and protect the lives of Covid patients. This has led to a critical shortage of oxygen throughout India that has generated a huge outpouring of support from countries around the world, from the United Kingdom and France to the United States of America. “Only with the help of oxygen,” Pujya Swamiji shared, “can patient recovery be accelerated, and we are coming forward to help you at this critical time.”

Beginning today, with the blessings of Pujya Swamiji, a Parmarth Niketan ambulance, tagged with UK 14 PA 0174, will begin delivering supplies of free oxygen cylinders directly to patients’ homes through the auspices of Parmarth Niketan, the Divine Shakti Foundation and the Rotary CLUB Rishikesh.  The service responds to the most critical need facing the country at this time – the need for oxygen to keep Covid patients alive!

Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji, paying homage to the famous news anchor Rohit Sardanaji, said that the second wave of the Corona epidemic in India is very serious. “It seems like India is facing a corona tsunami at the moment. I cannot believe that this invisible virus has taken the very visible Shri Sardanaji away from us forever. Just a few days ago, we had a discussion about the Kumbh bath on his show, and now he is gone. I send my deepest condolences to the family, and pray that the Lord gives them the strength and the peace to bear their grief.”

“Everyone has to be united to deal with this heart-wrenching crisis because no one can be safe until every person is safe. We must all come to the rescue to save humanity from the suffering of this crisis. The service of humanity must be our purpose, whatever the sacrifice. It is not a time to be fearful or confused. We must serve and help as much as possible.”

Special thanks from Pujya Swamiji on this occasion were offered to Yogacharya Shri Vimal Badhavan, Doctor Ravi Kaushal of Shukdevanand Hospital, Shri Sachin Chopra, Shri Narendra Bisht, the Rishikumars of Paramarth Gurukul and Nitin Gupta of the Rotary Club – all of whom waved a green flag to send the Mobile Oxygen van into service!
