A very special Diwali celebration took place this year at the Parmarth Niketan bringing together people from all over India and the world. An interfaith and green message of love and renewal went out from Rishikesh as the day started with a big clean-up of the ashram followed by discussions with Dr. Anil Joshiji, Founder of HESCO, about implementing an ecological index (GEP), alongside the economic index (GDP), for the state as we move into long-term rehabilitation. The evening Ganga Aarti brought together Acharya Lokesh Muniji as well as families, couples and individuals from places like Gujarat, Spain, America and so many others in a divine Laxmi Pooja and Prasad. Lighting and firecrackers were avoided while traditional homemade sweets and earthen lamps were distributed to all as a symbol of a green and healthy new year.
