You Are the Solution Summit Day 2

The second day of the “You are the Solution Summit of Leaders,” organised by the The Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, continued in the International Conference Hall near the World Toilet College at Parmarth Niketan (Rishikesh). Speakers from the government, corporate, media and civil society shared their success stories on how they have been agents of change in reviving, restoring and cleaning their local water bodies.

Global Interfaith WASH Alliance’s (GIWA) interfaith delegation shared their commitments and suggestions with Hon’ble Minister of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Shri Prakash Pantji, Government of Uttarakhand from the work they have done on the ground to inspire behavior change.

The delegation led by GIWA’s Founder Pujya Swamiji, consisted of revered leaders such as the Chief Jathedar Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singhji, Jathedar Patna Saheb, Giani Iqbal Singhji, Swami Maheshwaranandji, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Mufti Nasihur Rahman Qasimiji, Respected Father Paul V. Moonjelyji, Asst. Executive Director, Caritas International, Ven Venerable Lama Lobzang, Ven Bhikkhu Sanghasenaji, as well as well-known Bollywood actor Vivek Anand Oberoi and Sandeep Gupta, Executive President of Dainik Jagran.

They also had a closed door session with just the faith leaders to share with them key tips and techniques on inspiring social behavior change communication (SBCC) to improve WASH.

Some of the main leaders speaking in these sessions included experience sharing by Dr. PB Salim, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of West Bengal, Manish Wasuja, UNICEF India, Ravi Bhatnagar, Reckitt Benckiser, Dr. Veena Khanduri, Executive Secretary, Global Water Partnership and Country Coordinator, GSP India, Nirankar Saxena, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Joe Maidath, Grahm Vikas, Swamini Adityananda Saraswati, Director, Programmes Policy and Development, GIWA, Savita Saxena, Respected Member of the GIWA Board and many, many others.
