October 1 -- Mumbai
Pujya Swamiji blessed the wedding of Renuka Hinduja to Olivier with His presence. It was a beautiful scene, with the Hinduja Mumbai bungalow turned into a veritable Vrindavan for Radha and Krishna!

October 6 -- Gangotri
Pujya Swamiji traveled to Gangotri for the inauguration of the Ganga Aarti in Gangotri. Pujya Swamiji is famous across the world for the divine, spectacular Aarti each evening on the banks of Ganga (see our homepage at www.parmarth.org for link to video clippings). He is also committed to starting Aarti in as many of the holy locations on the banks of Ganga as possible. His blessings, inspiration, presence and guidance have already started Aarti in Badrinath, Rudra Prayag, Allahabad, Kanpur and Roorkee. However, He felt that Gangotri, being the source of Mother Ganga should definitely have a daily Aarti.

Hence on the 5th October He traveled from Rishikesh with Acharya Balkrishanji (the acharya and ayurvedic head of Pujya Swami Ramdevji's ayurvedic wing), famous actress Smt. Hema Maliniji and rishikumars from Parmarth's gurukul as well as our sangeet team (musical team) to Gangotri.  The Honorable Governor of Uttranchal came on the morning of the 6th.

A special puja was held and the first divine aarti was performed on the banks of Ganga at Gangotri.

October 28-31-- New York, USA
For 3 days, the United Nations organized a Global Youth Peace Summit at the United Nations in New York, USA. For the last several years, the United Nations has organized regional summits in various parts of the world (Africa, Europe, etc.) to find those youth who are truly the leaders and who have both the ability as well as the commitment to work for betterment in the world. Then, out of these regional summits, two delegates from each of the 192 United Nations' countries were selected, and these delegates were called to the Global Summit at UN headquarters in New York.

For 3 days the youth participated in plenary sessions, breakout sessions and other gatherings/meetings at UN headquarters and ultimately drafted a declaration expressing their commitment to helping the UN achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

Pujya Swamiji gave an inspiring talk on the topic of "The Role of Youth in Peacebuilding." He said, "The question is not the role you will play in peacebuilding, for you are all the most crucial ones in the peacebuilding process. Without the youth, we cannot bring peace to the world. The question, though, is how can you all prepare yourselves - internally and externally -- to be agents of peace."  He spoke about how they can bring peace within themselves and then how they can work to bring peace in their communities and in the world.
