Pujya Swamiji gave the Valedictory Address at the 2 day National Convention with the aim of preserving the ecology, natural resources and environment of India, with a particular focus on Ganga and the Himalayas.  He gave a beautiful speech about the importance of Ganga and the Himalayas, not only for our planet but also for our souls. He talked about the beauty of Indian culture as it teaches us to worship and revere the rivers, the mountains, the plants and the trees.

October 10-12 -- Rishikesh
Vivek Oberoi came to Parmarth for 2 days before going to Corbett National Park to film. It was wonderful to see his piety and devotion to come home to the holy banks of Mother Ganga, to the sacred land of Rishikesh and to the holy feet of his Guru before embarking on a new movie project. During his time here, he distributed prizes to the Rishikumars who had won the English Competition in the Gurukul and also distributed sports clothes and a cricket set to the Rishikumars at Parmarth and at the Parmarth Gurukul in Veerpur.

October 29 - 30 New York

Pujya Swamiji travelled to USA for just over one day at the end of October. During His time there He agreed to address the Senior Citizens at the United Hindu Council's Senior Citizen home in Queens, New York. He gave a beautiful and inspiring talk about how they are all in the "landing" phase of life. "To take off smoothly is easy," He said. "One can also coast gently through life. But to land smoothly, to land well, to land without bumps and jerks, that is difficult."  He told them that now it is imperative for them to spend their time fulfilling their mission here in this life and also preparing for next life. Through giving and sharing their wisdom and experience to the younger generations they will fulfill their remaining duties. By meditating and praying they will prepare for next life. He urged them to use their time at the Senior Center for "chanting instead of chatting."

Rabbi Burt Aaron Siegel, the Rabbi of the Shul of New York and an ardent devotee of Pujya Swamiji's, also came to the program to pay his respects and love to Pujya Swamiji. On the next visit to New York, Pujya Swamiji will address Rabbi Burt's congregation.

On the way into New Jersey from Manhattan, we stopped at Liberty Park, the park from where you can clearly see the Statue of Liberty. In over 83 visits to the United States, Pujya Swamiji had never been to see the Statue of Liberty. However, by the time we got there, the last ferry had already left for the day, but we had darshan of the Statue from the park.

October 31- Nov. 3 Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

From New York, Pujya Swamiji traveled to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Originally it had been planned to have one official pravachan (lecture) program, and then just to have informal satsang and darshan times over the next 2 days. However, the response to the first night's pravachan program at the Las Vinas Temple was so enthusiastic and everyone felt so inspired and uplifted by His divine presence and words that they begged Him to have a youth session/question-answer session and also to travel to Santa Cruz for another pravachan session.

So, the following evening we gathered again at the Indian Cultural Center for a wonderful question-answer session.

Then on November 2 we traveled to Santa Cruz where the community was blessed with a divine lecture on the Bhagavad Gita and the message and life of Bhagwan Krishna at the Gita Mandir

November 4 - 6 Lisbon, Portugal

In August of 2002, Pujya Swamiji was in Lisbon at the time of the divine Rama Katha given by Pujya Morari Bapu. During that time, Pujya Swamiji gave a youth session, which was supposed to last for only 1 1/2 hours, but which actually ended up going until 12:30 am!!! At that time, they youth begged Him to return for a special youth camp where they could receive more of His divine teachings and also the divine touch! After more than 2 years of waiting, their wish was granted and we had a special youth camp held in Varzea de Sintra, a small town just outside of Lisbon.  The youth team of Mitesh, Darshana and Dhiral Jamnadas, Jitesh Madhushudan, Dimple Dayalal, Bruno Narendra Jivan, Haneet Kantilal, Shubes Prabhudas and Sumeet Gordhandas had worked so hard to bring this beautiful event to fruition. They even organized all the buses to carry the youth from Lisbon city out to this lush green, serene environment.

The special youth camp camp included lectures as well as yoga and meditation classes, and also special question-answer sessions. There was also time for everyone to receive private blessings from Him.

The program was held on the beautiful, lush grounds of the Ten Chi tai chi and yoga center, and the owner of the center was overjoyed to be blessed by Pujya Swamiji's presence.

The event concluded with a beautiful aarti.

Special thanks also to Kantibhai and Vibhutiben Jamnadas who guided this team of enthusiastic and devoted youth and helped them bring the camp to fruition.

During His time in Lisbon, Pujya Swamiji visited the sacred temple of Fatima, where it is said that the Lady of the Rosary appeared to three divine,
young children over a period of
several years beginning in May, 1917.

November 7 - Manchester, UK

For the first time in over a decade, Pujya Swamiji graced the city of Manchester, England with His presence. The Gita Bhavan mandir was overflowing with over 500 people, in a space that should have held only about 350! People were squeezed into aisles, standing in the hallways, and leaning over each other's shoulders to take part in the divine talk. The event was beautifully organized by Rajnibhai and Tarlaben Somaiya and Prakashbhai and  Purnitaben Gangani.

November 8 - Leicester, UK

Pujya Swamiji conducted a program especially for the youth in Leicester, titled "24 hours as a Hindu," and it included all aspects of how to live every moment of every day in a divine, pious and dharmic way. However, Pujya Swamiji also noticed that there were many, many non-Indians in the crowd as well as many elderly people. Therefore, in addition to addressing the youth, He also gave beautiful words of wisdom for people of all ages, and he made sure to keep switching back and forth between Gujarati, English and Hindi so that everyone could benefit. The evening concluded with a beautiful showing of the Ganga Aarti from Parmarth Niketan! Even though we were sitting at the Sanatan Mandir in Leicester, everyone felt that we were sitting on the banks of Mother Ganga in Rishikesh! Yashvant Lodhia, Dr. Amit Kotecha, and Bharti, Hema & Vibhuti Acharya did a wonderful job organizing the function.

On behalf of all of the youth of Leicester, a divine young boy offers Pujya Swamiji a flower and a plaque of appreciation.

November 9-14 - London, UK

Pujya Swamiji spent 4 days in London before returning to India. Originally there was only one program scheduled - for the New Year Day after Diwali on the 13 November. However, while in Spain Pujya Swamiji received the sincere and ardent request from youth Saket Soni to come and address the students at King's College. Last year, Pujya Swamiji had given a beautiful program to the students at University College London, and now the students at Kings were eager to reap the same benefits.

Although the notice was very short, Pujya Swamiji's heart always melts for His dear youth and so He agreed to have the program at Kings as well.  In just a few short days, Saket Soni, Bhavit Mehta, Priyanka and Meera Lakhani and Tulsibhai organized a special satsang and question-answer session for the youth of the university.  When Pujya Swamiji entered the room and found all of the youth chanting the Hanuman Chalisa, He was so proud and impressed by their devotion. He gave a beautiful talk on Hanuman as the divine Model to follow in our lives.

Pujya Swamiji praised the wonderful and inspiring devotion and dedication of all the sadhus, saints and devotees of the Swaminarayan mission and performed the New Year's aarti.

The evening of November 13 was a special satsang program organized by Ramniklal Solanki, Kalpesh and Shailesh Solanki at Alperton School Auditorium, in honor of Diwali and the New Year. The Rt. Honorable Paul Boetang, Treasury Minister and Honorable Tony McNulty, Minister of Transport in London, and MP of Harrow East also attended to pay their respects to Pujya Swamiji.

November 17-26 - Rishikesh

The holy land of Rishikesh was further sanctified when Pujya Morari Bapu came and recited Shri Rama Katha here. Thousands of people from across the world poured into Rishikesh to hear the 9 day katha of Bhagwan Shri Rama recited in the holy Tirth of Rishikesh.

November 23-27 - Rishikesh

Ruby Bhatia, the famous actress, model and TV anchor came to Rishikesh originally as part of a film shoot on Parmarth Niketan for Star TV. However, when she met Pujya Swamiji they realized that actually Pujya Swamiji had been to Ruby's home in Toronto more than 20 years ago!! "Are you my Ruby?" Pujya Swamiji had asked her when she walked in, as He immediately recognized the precocious, divine young child He had met so many years back.

Thus, reunited with Pujya Swamiji, she stayed on past the film shoot to enjoy the divine atmosphere here.

November  - Rishikesh

Shri Ramesh Goenkaji from Dubai came to Parmarth Niketan, after a lapse of 30 years! His family has been connected with the ashram for nearly 50 years, but the last time he had come was as a child. Then, the divine power of the ashram called him back, although he did not whom he would find upon entering.

He was so happy to find Pujya Swamiji and to see the beautiful way the ashram has blossomed and flourished under Pujya Swamiji's leadership. He was particularly touched to participate in the Divine Ganga Aarti.  It was so wonderful to have him back home at Parmarth after a much too long lapse!

November 28 - December 2 - Rishikesh

Vivek Oberoi returned to Rishikesh after he finished filming in Corbett National Park. This time he brought his family as well so that everyone could have the benefit of this divine land and of Pujya Swamiji's presence.  During their time here, in addition to soaking up Pujya Swamiji's divine wisdom, inspiration and grace, through satsang they visited with the Rishikumars, Vivek awarded the prizes to the rishikumars who had won the Sanskrit competition and they planted trees in the land of Veerpur.

Vivek spoke at the Ganga Aarti saying that he had seen many aartis but that this is the most beautiful and divine. He also said that he loves the rishikumars and that each one of them is a "kalpa-vreksh" (wish-fulfilling tree) because they will serve the country, the people and the world so completely and beautifully. They have the potential -- with Pujya Swamiji's blessings and guidance -- to become anything they want to become, and they will be the divine cultural ambassadors, spreading wisdom across the world.

Suresh Oberoi, Vivek's father and also a very famous actor, shared his feelings as well at the final aarti. He said that people come here to have a bath in the holy waters of Mother Ganga, but to him a bath in the "Guru Ganga", a bath in the purifying and divine presence of Pujya Swamiji is just as divine and important.
