Sangam Pe Tiranga! Parmarth Niketan Hoists Flag on the Banks of Sangam with guests from North, South, East and West :: Message of Unity and Oneness from the Sangam
The Parmarth Niketan Ganga Action Parivar, Global Interfaith WASH Alliance ‘Green Kumbh’ camp led by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, held a beautiful and celebratory flag-hoisting ceremony on the banks of the Sangam this morning. The raising of the tiranga, on the banks of the sacred Sangam at Kumbh Mela, illuminates the coming together of all peoples of the nation as one. Joining Pujya Swamiji were Shri Madhusudan Naiduji, head of the Muddenahalli campus of Satya Sai Baba, and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, President of the Divine Shakti Foundation and Secretary-General for the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance; Shri RS Goenkaji and Shri SK Goenkaji, heads of Emami Ltd, joined by their friends and family; and hundreds of devotees from across the country and the world.

Following a heart-filled community singing of the national anthem, all went for a sacred snan at the Sangam. The Sangam Snan featured flags of India raised high and proud, freely and full-flowing in the wind, blessing all the leaders and followers at a true-coming together at the Sangam.
Pujya Swamiji said: “Above all our religions and beliefs, we must remember we are Indian first. To me service to the nation is meditation in action. The greatest service needed today is to free our nation from pollution and to preserve and protect our cultures and traditions. As the tri-colors fly high on the banks of the Triveni, let us remember the mantra: nature, culture and future.” Pujya Swamiji also offered his deep respect to the soldiers of this great nation, and to the mothers who gave birth to them.
Sadhvi Bhagawatiji said: “Today we are going to the Sangam as many groups but let us return back as one people, one nation and one humanity. We gained independence 70 years ago of our land but time has come that we must gain independence from our sense of inferiority – from the borders and boundaries in our minds of religion, race, caste and colour. On the banks of the sangam let us take a Sankalp (a pledge) to take the Sandesh (message) to heart and really become One People, One Nation.”
Shri Madhusudan Naiduji said: “Bharat is a nation of devotion, and whoever is riding the divine carriage of devotion is in the true essence Indian. Our soldiers are our outer protectors. The saints are our inner protectors, protecting our culture and our values. I salute both our soldiers and sannyasis on the banks of the Sangam today.”
