Dev Prayag Yatra

On the occasion of #WorldWaterDay we took a beautiful yatra up to Dev Prayag, the confluence of the Alakananda river from Badrinath, Mandakini from Kedarnath and Bhagirathi from Gangotri/Gaumukh into the divine sacred river of Ganga. Dev Prayag is where Ganga is actually formed even though Gaumukh, the source of the Bhagirathi is worshipped as Ganga’s source. We began the evening with a sacred yagna and aarti ceremony and then Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati led us in prayers and pledges to protect and preserve our water, in whatever city or country we live. We then had a beautiful sacred meditation sitting right on the sacred sangam (confluence of rivers), followed by music concert by Gil Ron Shama Music and his band. The following day, after waking, meditating and doing yoga on the sacred sangam we went to the holy and ancient Raghunathji Mandir, where Lord Rama Himself came and performed sadhana and tapasya after killing Ravana in the battle at Lanka. The trip concluded with baths in the sangam and we returned in Rishikesh in time for the sacred ceremonial burning of the Holika effigy on the night before Holi.
