World Heart Day: Cleaning Our Hearts & Our Communities

Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji was the ‘Chief Guest’ for the 13th World Heart Day Celebrations recently in Delhi recently. The event was organised by the Kalra Hospital SRCNC Pvt. Ltd., which is a multi- specialty hospital, privately run & managed tertiary care referral hospital in New Delhi, India, with a focus on Cardiovascular & Critical Care delivery with state of the art infrastructure and highly qualified and experienced professionals.

Pujya Swamiji offered a sacred Rudraksha plant to Dr RN Kalraji as well as to other prominent doctors and shared, “Today our lungs and our hearts are perhaps the most affected by the environment we live in. The pollution outside is causing the disease inside, hence maintaining cleaniness, improving sanitation and hygiene outside will dramatically improve our public health. During this fortnight of celebrations that are taking place, under our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s leadership, let us contribute to make our hospitals and our communities cleaner and greener as a byproduct of which we will also be improving the health of our heart.”

The event was also blessed by Respected Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasiji who encouraged doctors and health professionals to be the example they want to see in the world. He shared that by being positive role models they would encourage their patients to also lead healthier lives.

The focus on the event was at raising awareness among the masses about preventive cardiology. The hospital organizes the World Heart Day each year in collaboration with the World Heart Federation in Geneva, Switzerland to recognize the cardiologist of national or international fame, who has contributed significantly to the field of Cardiovascular medicine.

Each year, the award Coeur d ‘Or’ (Heart of Gold) recognizes philanthropy in cardiology. This year, Pujya Swamiji presented the award to Cardiovascular Surgeon Dr Sujoy Shadji at Shri Ganga Ram Hospital.

Also gracing the occasion was popular Bollywood Singer Daler Mehndiji who pledged to advocate for improving our heart health and protecting our environment. Dr Randheer Guleria, Director of AIIMS, Ms Vanita Sehgal, Principal DPS Rk Puram, Director of Ganga Ram Hospital, eminent judges and many other prominent personalities also participated.
