July 2-3 -- Winnipeg, Canada

Pujya Swamiji graced the community of Winnipeg with His presence on the 2-3 July. The visit was organized by Dr. Ramanbhai & Smt. Shakuntalaben Patel and Smt. Tara Maniar. 

On July 2nd, Pujya Swamiji gave satsang and pravachan at the  Hindu Temple & Dr Raj Pandey Hindu Centre. There were several hundred people of different faiths and cultural backgrounds. His message was how to live in peace and not pieces � to take the 3 multivitamins daily of meditation, no reaction and introspection. The congregation was inspired and moved to tears with Pujya Swamiji�s messages. At the end of the session, each member received prasad from Pujya Swamiji�s hands.

On July 3rd, Pujya Swamiji met with the youth counsellors and youths in custody at the Youth Remand Centre. He shared with the youths and counsellors how to command their senses & thoughts so they can be in demand in their lives, with their families and in the community to move forward from the Youth Remand Centre. He reminded the youths that God gives and forgives inspiring them to move on, to forgive others to achieve peace so that their lives can be better and not bitter. Pujya Swamiji shared that the master key of life is love and encouraged the youths to blossom like flowers to share their fragrance with others.
 

July 4-5 -- Phoenix, Arizona

Pujya Sant Shri Rameshbhai Oza was giving divine Bhagwat Katha in Phoenix, Arizona and Pujya Swamiji was requested to come to grace the occasion for some time. On July 3 He flew to Phoenix where He spent 2 days - the 4th and the 5th.  On July 4th, which is the Independence Day of USA, there was a  large special program. The bhoomi puja for the upcoming Phoenix HIndu temple was also performed by Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Bhaishri. In the scorching heat of 115 degrees Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Bhaishri laid the bricks and performed the puja for each of the deities to be installed in the mandir.

Pujya Swamiji also conducted a wonderful youth session and gave an inspiring and uplifting discourse in Pujya Bhaishri's katha.

July 7-8 -- New Jersey

Pujya Swamiji flew from Phoenix to New Jersey on the evening of July 6.

Following the JAINA convention Pujya Swamiji presided over the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of IHRF. It was a very productive and fruitful meeting regarding the status and progress of all projects including the Encyclopedia of Hinduism, the tsunami relief work, the construction of ashrams in the holy land of Mansarovar and Mt. Kailash, the gurukuls/orphanages, etc.

On the morning of July 8, Pujya Swamiji attended the final day of Pujya Swami Ramdevji's Yoga Shibir (Camp) in New Jersey. The camp was a 5 day camp in which the techniques of yoga and pranayama were taught to thousands of people living in the New York/New Jersey area. 

Pujya Swamiji gave a beautiful talk on the true meaning of Yoga - how it is not just for the body but it unites us with the Divine. He said that all of the accolades for Pujya Swami Ramdevji's miraculous work on people's health is very true but that he should actually be praised for even more than that. Through bringing yoga and pranayama in such a widescale way to so many millions of people, Pujya Swami Ramdevji is not only healing people's bodies but also their hearts, minds and spirits through the divine effects of Yoga and Pranayama.

After the program, Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Swami Ramdevji spent several hours together discussing plans for the betterment and beautification of Uttrakhand as well as so many other projects.

July 13 -- Detroit

Pujya Swamiji gave a beautiful lecture at the Hindu Temple of Canton, Michigan, organized by Arvindbhai Patel, Dhrupeshbhai Patel, Sureshbhai Shah and Madhviben Doshi. He spoke in a mix of English, Hindi and Gujarati.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining our divine culture, but that the way to do it is to touch our children with the divine sanskaras rather than to try to teach them or preach to them. "Children" He said, "need the touch even more than they need the teaching or preaching."

July 14 -- Columbus, Ohio

Pujya Swamiji gave a talk at the Bharatiya Hindu Temple on the theme of "Peace in the Chaos." He spoke about how, in the midst of the tension, stress, responsibilities and worries of daily life we can maintain our peace. He gave a beautiful explanation of all the ways and reasons we lose our peace, and then practical tools to help us navigate through the world of maya while still being in peace. "A lotus," He said, "does not run away from the mud crying that 'you are spoiling the whiteness of my petals.' Rather she grows in her full white beautiful divine glory in the midst of the mud, neither condemning the mud nor feeling annoyed that she has to be in the midst of such dirt. July 15 -- Chicago

Pujya Swamiji traveled to Chicago from Columbus where He attended the final day of Pujya Swami Ramdevji's Chicago Shibir. He gave another beautiful talk there on the meaning and power of yoga and what great, divine seva Pujya Swami Ramdevji is doing by spreading this ancient wisdom to people all over the world.

July 16-17 -- North and South Carolina

On July 16 - 17 Pujya Swamiji visited Columbia, South Carolina and Charlotte, NC. Columbia is the location where the headquarters for the Encyclopedia of Hinduism were located for many years until the final stage of review has shifted to India. In Columbia, Pujya Swamiji discussed the status of EH and plans for the completion, publication and launching with the project's CEO, Dr. Kaushal Sinha.

On the 17th He went to Charlotte from Columbia where He gave a cozy satsang program in the home of Kishanji and Veenaji Khandelwal.

July 18-21 -- PIttsburgh

On the 18th Pujya Swamiji flew to Pittsburgh where He spent 3 days. Pujya Swamiji is the founding Swamiji of the Hindu-Jain temple in Monroeville, Pennsylvania (just outside of Pittsburgh). It was the first temple in the world in which Hindus and Jains (and both branches of Jainism) all worship and pray together. Pujya Swamiji spent many years living in Pittsburgh in the early 1980s to bring the temple to fruition.

During His time there He gave a beautiful satsang/discourse program, and also graced the occasion of the graduation of the high school students' with His presence and blessings. Further, rains and snow as well as more than 2 decades of existence had caused leakage in some of the roof shikars.

The temple committee felt that Pujya Swamiji should personally perform the puja prior to undertaking the renovation work.

So, when He was there He also performed the pujas on the roof, at all the Shikars for the new roof renovation.

 

July 22 -- Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania

Pujya Swamiji flew on the 22nd July to Harrisburgh, Pennslvyania where He stayed for a few days with Shri Hasubhai and Smt. Harshaben Shah. He gave a beautiful talk at the Harrisburgh temple where the audience was also blessed by the darshan of divine Ganga Aarti .

July 27 -- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Pujya Swamiji came to Philadelphia for a day to the homes of Jay & Susie and Neil & Juhi Shah. He had a cozy satsang at home in the evening and then left for Louisville the following day.

July 29-30 -- Louisville, Kentucky

Pujya Swamiji spent the divine day of Guru Purnima in Louisville, KY. A beautiful function was organized by Rekhaben & Atulbhai Mashruwala and Taranginiben & Chandrakantbhai Patel at the Hindu Temple. A beautiful tent was erected outside the temple, and the day began with a special Shiv Abhishek puja organized by Smitaben & Mahendrabhai Patel. Then, Pujya Swamiji gave a beautiful talk on the Guru and the meaning of Guru Purnima. All had the divine opportunity to come up and have His darshan and take prasad after the program. It was a beautiful, sacred, joyous way to celebrate the day of the Guru.

August 4 -- San Jose, California

Pujya Swamiji gave a discourse at the Sunnyvale Hindu temple on living the Bhagavad Gita in Daily Life. It was a program filled with inspiration, upliftment and insight for how to live our lives according to the divine teachings of Lord Krishna in the universal scripture of the Bhagavad Gita.

The program was organized by Smt. Satya Kalraji, Shri Raj Bhanotji, Shri Naranjibhai Patel and Shri Mohinder Sethiji. It was a great success and the huge temple hall was filled nearly to capacity. The program concluded with the divine darshan of Parmarth's Ganga Aarti

August 5 -- Hollywood, California

Whenever Pujya Swamiji is in Los Angeles He always gives a talk at the Golden Bridge Yoga Village in Hollywood. Founded and run by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and Gurushabd Singh Khalsa, Golden Bridge Yoga Village includes classes in asana and meditation as well as how to live lives that are in alignment with our inherent spiritual natures. The village focuses on making yoga a part of our daily lives -- in everything we do ranging from the food we eat, to the clothes we wear, to the words we speak -- and not just what we do for 90 minutes on a yoga mat. It is a beautiful place and the students are always filled with a great, sincere desire to delve deeper into spirituality.

The talk was on the Path of Love. Pujya Swamiji spoke about how the Path of Love is the ONLY path when you are living a spiritual life. You not only feel love, but you become love. Everything you do becomes a manifestation of love.

August 9 -- Beverly Hills, California

Pujya Swamiji was a special guest at the opening launch of India Splendour, a 6 day Gala Celebration in honor of the 60th anniversary of India's Independence, organized and sponsored by Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Modi. Dr. B.K. Modiji organized a full 6 days of celebration, culminating in a Gala Awards program on the 15th August (see August 15 for details).

The Gala Celebration was inaugurated on the 9th at Dr. Modiji's home in Beverly Hills with Pujya Swamiji, Pujya Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and famous motivational speaker Anthony (Tony) Robbins. Pujya Swamiji and Tony Robbins spent time together at the function during which Pujya SWamiji shared His divine experiences of sadhana in the Himalayas when He was young.

August 10-12 -- Palm Springs , California -- Conference on Consciousness in Action

Pujya Swamiji traveled on the 9th August down to Palm Springs, a desert resort town which has burgeoned over the last few decades into a popular vacation and retreat center.

He was a main speaker at a huge conference on Consciousness in Action, organized by the Institute of Noetic Sciences (www.ions.org). The Conference brought together famous respected, renowned thinkers, philosophers, speakers and authors on the subject of Consciousness. Pujya Swamiji was the only spiritual/religious leader called. Speakers and presenters included Robert Thurman, Andrew Harvey, Marilyn schlitz, Shiva Rae and many more.

Pujya Swamiji gave 2 talks at the function, one was a 2-hour in depth discussion on how to find peace in our lives. He explained all of the barriers to peace -- our egos, our attachments, our desires, our anger, our stress -- and how to remove all of them. He also gave a 30 minute talk at the Concluding Plenary Session in which He spoke on living in peace. Not only were His words uplifting and educational, but His presence and talk brought a truly palpable feeling of peace to the audience. So many people remarked on how the "energy in the whole room just shifted when Pujya Swamiji started chanting."

Pujya Swamiji also gave a talk to the youth, as IONS had organized a special concurrent program for the children of the participants. He spoke to the youth on a 3-fold mantra for life: Engage Yourself in Karma, Under the Shade of Dharma, with an Awareness of Brahma. The youth were so inspired by His talk that the next day at the concluding Plenary they ran up to Him and said, "We all remember your mantra and will live by Karma, Dharma and Brahma!"

A highlight of the weekend was a spontaneous interview/dialogue with famous author, professor, philosopher and activist Andrew Harvey. When Pujya Swamiji's individual interview was about to begin, Andrew's was just finishing. They met at the door and began a spontaneous, beautiful dialogue between two deeply spiritual souls. Andrew asked Pujya Swamiji several questions which were so profound, the interviewers decided to turn that conversation into the actual interview! Subjects ranged from "sacred activism" to issues of global warming, to the messages of Christ and Krishna.

August 13 -- Los Angeles , California

Pujya Swamiji gave darshan and a meditation program at the home of Dawn and Clive Baillie in studio City. It was a beautiful, cozy evening that also included kirtan/bhajans

 

August 14 -- Bakersfield , California

Pujya Swamiji traveled to Bakersfield where a satsang and question-answer program was hosted by Dr. Ramesh Guptaji and Dr. Vinod Guptaji. Pujya Swamiji was also so impressed to see also the "family Ramayana" DVD that they had made, bringing the teachings and message of the Ramayana into the family home.

August 15 -- Los Angeles , California

Pujya Swamiji was one of the select honorees to be awarded the India Splendour Award at Royce Hall (UCLA) at the concluding Gala Function of the India Splendour Week. His acceptance speech was so inspirational, talking about what really makes India Splendid, and how to bring that to the world. Kabir Bedi the MC, said it was the most eloquent acceptance speech he'd ever heard! Other awardees included Zubin Mehta, Rajendra Pawar, Vidhu Vimod Chopra, Vikram Chandra and Zerbanoo Gifford.  The evening was filled with stars of Hollywood and Bollywood including

August 18-19 -- Tokyo , Japan

Pujya Swamiji traveled to Tokyo on His way back to India where He stayed and gave a discourse at the Yoga Fitness Center in Tokyo, run by Hikaru Hashimoto. Pujya Swamiji had been to Tokyo last summer also when He was a speaker/delegate at the World Conference of Religions for Peace in Kyoto, and the yoga teachers and students were so overjoyed to hear Him speak that they have been eagerly awaiting another opportunity. Thus, Hikaru requested Him to spend at least 1-2 days in Tokyo on the way back to India to give words of wisdom to the Japanese yoga teachers, spiritual seekers and students.

August 20 -- Rishikesh , India

Pujya Swamiji was the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the Hiranyagarbha temple of the Kriya Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh, headed by Pujya Swami Shankarananda Giriji

The temple is a tribute to Sri Yukteswar and the beautiful inauguration festivities were from the 13-20 August. Pujya Swamiji gave the final blessings for the temple and the function.

 

August 25 -- Rishikesh, India

Shri O.P. Munjalji (owner of Hero Honda) came to Parmarth Niketan with his entire family, including Shri B.M. Lall Munjalji, to celebrate his 80th  birthday. It was a beautiful time, filled with devotion and piety. Pujya Swamiji is always so impressed when people choose to come to celebrate these occasions on the holy banks of Mother Ganga, particularly when it is a family of such financial prominence. Rather than celebrating in a fancy hotel or resort, they came to be in a sacred, holy land.  Shri O.P. Munjalji's son -- Shri Pankaj Munjal and his wife Smt. Charooji also came with their children.

August 25-26 -- Rishikesh, India

Parmarth Niketan was the host for the Solid Waste Management training program organized by the National Service Scheme, Dehradun with the support of the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology.

Hopefully through conferences and work such as this, an efficient plan for waste control will be implemented by the State and can serve as a model for other states.

August 26 -- Haridwar, India

Pujya Swamiji was a special guest along with Pujya Swami Hansdasji and Pujya Acharya Balkrishanji at the Jyot Mahotsav (Light Festival) in Haridwar. It was a huge festival of light attended by thousands of people.

August 29 -- Kanpur, India

Pujya Swamiji was the Chief Guest in Kanpur at the release of a book by the Late Respected Shri Narendra Mohanji (owner of the famous Dainik Jagran newspaper) titled Sanskriti aur Rashtrawad (Culture and Nationalism). It is a collection of his insightful and erudite articles mainly on these two topics.

The function was organized by Shri Yogendra Mohanji (his respected brother) and Shri Sandeep Guptaji and Shri Sanjay Guptaji (his respected sons) who are now heading Dainik Jagran.

August 31 -- Bombay (Mumbai), India

August 31 marked the 50th birthday of Pujya Sant Shri Rameshbhai Oza and a large function was held in Mumbai. Pujya Swamiji, Pujya Swami Gurusharananandji, Pujya Swami Hansdasji, Pujya Bhagwat Rishiji and other spiritual leaders came for the event to bestow their blessings and express their great love to Pujya Bhaishri.

September 4 -- Rishikesh, India  -- Krishna Janmashtami

In honor of the divine and sacred day of Bhagwan Krishna's appearance in human form on the Earth, we had a special puja on the banks of Mother Ganga with kirtan.  In the night, the young rishikumars of the Parmarth Gurukul put on the most beautiful, heart-wrenching performance of "Radha-Krishna Leela." The young boys dressed as Bhagwan Krishna, Radha, the gopis, the families, the Royal party and all others were so compelling that there was not a dry eye in the hall, which was packed! Pujya Swamiji and Pujya M.M. Swami Asanganandji blessed the young children after the incredible performance.

 

Yes, amazingly there is not a young girl in the cast! only our divine rishikumars!

 

		When young Puneet as Radha and Pradeep as Bhagwan Krishna had their final scene before Krishna left for Dwarka, no one remembered that they were young rishikumars at the Parmarth Gurukul. They truly became Radha-Krishna and the entire audience shed tears along with Radha

 

 

September 5-6 -- Uttarkashi, India

Pujya Swamiji traveled to Uttarkashi, in the Himalayas, the town on the banks of Ganga which lies half way between Rishikesh and both Yamunotri and Gangotri. There was a special function at the Goswami Ram Datt School in honor of International Teachers Day.  The top acharyas (teachers) from  the Himlayan region were honored by Pujya Swamiji at the function. Also, on this day He officially started Ganga Aarti in Uttarkashi. Pujya Swamiji is renowned as "Ganga Aarti Wale Swamiji" for the famous aarti at Parmarth Niketan every night. He has also started Ganga Aarti in Badrinath, Rudra Prayag, Allahabad, Kanpur, Gangotri and now Uttarkashi.

September 8 -- Rishikesh, India

Pujya Swamiji was a special guest and speaker at the anniversary of the passing of most revered Pujya Brahmachari Devendra Swarupji, the founder of Jai Ram Ashram of Haridwar and Rishikesh. The function was organized by Pujya Brahmachari Devendra Swarupji's disciple and successor, Pujya Brahmachari Brahmaswarupji.

September 11 -- Panipat, India

In honor of the birthday of Pujya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Hansdasji's birthday, a large Sant Sammellan was held in Panipat. Pujya Swamiji was the Chief Guest.

September 13-14 -- Rishikesh, India

Divine Souls Priyesh Kotecha from London and Rona Thakkar from Dubai came to Parmarth Niketan with their entire families at the divine time of their wedding, to perform sacred puja and seek Pujya Swamiji's blessings.

It was a beautiful time of prayer, puja and seva! In Priyesh and Rona's email prior to coming, when details of the program were being worked out they had only one request: we want to engage ourselves in as much seva as possible during the 3 days we are there. They had no mundane desires or concerns, only to perform divine puja and seva. It was really beautiful. 

Thus, the days were filled with medical eye testing of the rishikumars by Nishit, Sonal and Yoksam Kotecha, distribution of clothes to the rishikumars, bhandaras, a Vishwa Shanti puja (world peace ceremony) yagna and aarti.

	Smt. Varshaben Patel, the wife of central minister for aviation, Shri Praful Patel, came to Parmarth with their daughters Poorna and Niyati as well as other family members. Pujya Swamiji blessed Niyati's upcoming engagement as well and said it was a very special day that we were celebrating one wedding and one engagement, here on the holy banks of Mother Ganga.

September 14 -- Rishikesh:

Famous Kirtan singer Ashok Khosla came and performed beautiful bhajans and kirtan

September 17-21 -- Rishikesh:

Parmarth Niketan was the host of the Northern Railway conference. For 3 days the heads of the Northern Railway Board came together to discuss the progress of the railway and to work out any difficulties. They discussed primarily how the railway can serve people -- both foreigners and Indians.

September 22 -- Delhi:

Pujya Swamiji delivered the evening discourse at the Life Positive Expo 2007. This annual Expo by the famous magazine Life Positive includes a wide variety of exhibitions and classes in various forms of healing and growth. In the evening they call a revered spiritual leader (other speakers have included Pujya Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji and Pujya Dada Vaswaniji) to deliver an indepth address. The theme of the talk was "Everyday Spirituality -- how to live spiritual lives in the midst of deadlines, stress, competition and the rat-race." The program included Vedic Chanting led by Sadhvi Abha Saraswati and Meditation led by Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati prior to Pujya Swamiji's divine talk.  It concluded with a very inspiring and informative question-answer session in which Pujya Swamiji answered questions from the audience.

September 25 -- Rishikesh:

It was the sacred time of Ganesh Chatturthi and the beautiful Ganeshji murti which had been worshipped for the 10-day festival was now to be carried to the banks of Mother Ganga for the immersion. "Ganapati Bappa Moriya" the children chanted as they danced down to the banks of Ganga, indifferent to the rain that fell.

Recent Groups:

Devotees, seekers and visitors from abroad have been coming to Parmarth Niketa for decades to take part in the divine activities of yoga, meditation, satsang and the Ganga aarti.  However, in the last several years the group-travel field seems to be burgeoning, and more and more groups of spiritual tourists are coming to the holy area. October 15 -- October 27 -- Rishikesh:

Beginner Yoga Program at Parmarth Niketan:   The Beginner Yoga program includes prayers, pranayama, Traditional Ashtanga yoga asana, Yoga in the Bhagavad Gita, Vedic Chanting, Shramadaana, and Yoga Nidra. Each day will conclude with Ganga Puja, Havan and Arti at sunset.  Taught by Sadhvi Abha Saraswati

October 28 -- November 1 -- Rishikesh:

Pranic Healing Workshop:  Using a "no-touch" methodology, PRANIC HEALING utilizes prana to initiate specific biochemical changes to accelerate the body's innate ability to prevent, alleviate, and heal a whole spectrum of physical, emotional, and mental ailments. The methods are simple and fairly easy to understand; anyone can learn and apply PRANIC HEALING in no time at all. Physical touch in not necessary because the practitioner applies PRANIC HEALING on the Energy Body rather than on the physical body. Taught by Uma Poddar

November 5 - 17 -- Rishikesh:

Kriya Yoga Program: This program will include 20 kriyas and general yoga asana, pranayama, meditation; and, lectures / discussion on "Finding Peace in Your Chaos". Each day will conclude with Ganga Puja, Havan and Arti at sunset.  Taught by Sadhvi Abha Saraswati and Tara Maniar
