Hundreds of Chennai Devotees Perform Mahrudram Prayan at Parmarth

A large delegation from Chennai and South India spent the last 2-3 days at Parmarth Niketan performing Maharudra Parayan, reciting Ved Vaibhav, Vishnu Sahasranam and performing Rudrabhishek on the holy banks of Mother Ganga.

The group was led by Loka Kshema Seva Samiti and blessed by its scholar Pujya Sharma Shastrigalji of South India, along with 25 different scholars of his followers. They met with Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji, invited him to grace the poojan which He did. They were blessed with a sacred sapling of Rudraksha and received Rudraksha malas from Pujya Swamiji and eminent Kathakar Pujya Murlidharji, who coincidentally was there for a short visit to Parmarth, on yatra to his katha in Badrinath.

Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Shastrigalji discussed and gave special emphasis on the expansion of Vedic Centres; as well as, detailed discussions for the extension of cow cultivation, tree plantation and education of the Sanskrit language.

Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji said, “Along with surfing web pages, we must not forget to read and reflect upon our ancient and timeless Ved pages. India is a country where knowledge from the web can be combined with wisdom from the Ved. This will ensure that our speed and growth has a direction and is truly sustainable. This will also ensure that our development is one that is in harmony with our environment and is inclusive of all humanity regardless of caste, colour, creed, race, religion and region. We must also not just read and know the Vedas, but we must live the Vedas.”

Shri Shastri ji added, ‘Vedic Mantras can be recited anywhere, but the divine impact of offering them here on the banks of Mother Ganga greatly amplified the benefit that the mantras have on world peace and healing.”

Pujya Swamiji deeply admired the traditional way of having meals that all devotees took part in sattvic meals on banana leaves, in Parmarth’s Dining Hall, and encouraged all the Parmarth Rishikumars to also continue this tradition.

Whilst performing the divine water blessing ceremony, Pujya Shastrigalji – beaming with gratitude – shared that this form of Vishwa Abhishek and the message it provides to protect and preserve water was unique and special. He lovingly shared his commitment to propagate this message of river conservation and environmental protection, with his devotees and followers.
